Staff Duties
Commissioner: Oversees all planning, development, and public transportation activities, manages private contractor operating county bus system, completes GML 239 reviews, conducts activities related to NYC watershed, completes grant applications, conducts special studies requested by County Executive, completes planning studies, oversees planning and engineering consultants, administers departmental activities and interacts with Federal, State, and local municipal agencies.   
Principal Planner (P/T): Conducts demographic research, completes grant applications, interacts with State Data Center, interacts with Federal, State, and local municipal agencies, conducts open space planning activities, implements grants.  
Planner II: Responsible for transportation planning, implementation of bikeway/trail projects, works with the NY Metropolitan Transportation Council, interacts with Federal, State, and local municipal agencies, completes planning studies, interacts with planning and engineering consultants, completes grants and grant implementation.  
Sr. Environmental Planner/District Director, Soil and Water Conservation District: Oversees all activities of the Putnam County Soil & Water Conservation District, completes and implements grants, works with the Agricultural Community and County Agricultural Board, conducts environmental reviews, assist in Stormwater Management Program, conducts planning studies, processes data requests. 
Sr. Planning Assistant: Completes financial reports for department and bus operations, maintains all records for the department and bus operations, maintains all personnel records for the department, interacts with other county departments such as Purchasing and Federal and State agencies.  
Planning Assistant: Completes grant progress reports to Federal and State agencies, processes all paratransit applications, processes data requests, completes planning studies for the NY Metropolitan Transportation Council, interacts with other county departments such as GIS, helps prepare bus schedules and troubleshoot transit problems.  
Senior Typist: Serves as receptionist, processes data requests, provides clerical support to staff, handles public inquiries on bus operations, handles sale of planning materials and monthly bus passes and keeps records of the transactions.
